Philippi Step Tray
A TIMELESSLY MODERN BOWL WITH THE LOOK OF AN ANCIENT AMPHITHEATERS
The STEP bowl is fired over twelve hours in a two-stage process. The result is nothing less than a masterpiece of ceramic art, where the intricately crafted clay clearly sets the tone. Designer Johannes Lindner has also always been fascinated by the architectural appearance of ancient Roman amphitheaters, which inspired him to create this delicately reduced form. Where gladiators once battled predators, the bowl offers a more tame, yet no less impressive, stage for fruit or the finest pastries. The anthracite gray of the unglazed ceramic is subtly understated and blends seamlessly with almost any other color, while also beautifully enhancing it. 21st-century audiences will appreciate this. Such carefully produced ceramics should, as an exception, only be washed with warm water and a soft sponge. STEP is, of course, food-safe.
